Last weekend we were treated to a preview for next week’s episode of Doctor Who, entitled “Listen.” The preview can be seen here if you missed it.
However, back in July, prior to the start of series 8, we were given the preview found here, which was both simple, sweet, and foreshadowing.
It seems that Moffat wanted us to be prepared for this episode since before series 8 even started. And listen to what?! Now he has me scared and paying attention! We’ve learned from Mr. Moffat some of the most terrifying concepts can be found in the every day – shadows, gas masks, and statues. What will this episode bring? Steven Moffat has posed this question to viewers: “Have you ever wondered what The Doctor does in his spare time and what happens when he is alone … and what scares him?” It seems that we may just find out this Saturday.
Spoiler free reviews have indicated that we will be in for a treat and that this may be the scariest episode of Doctor Who penned by Moffat, if not in its entire history. We have been promised the return of Danny Pink, a new portion of the TARDIS, and a more Doctor-centered episode. While many sites have shared that this episode will return to concepts previously explored in Moffat’s tenure, both literally and implied, we will have to wait to see what those concepts specifically are.
Regardless of the mystery surrounding this simple command, Saturday’s episode promises to be excellent based on pre-release reviews and trailers. It seems we have been preparing for this episode for longer than we have realized with the pre-series release of the trailer where Capaldi simply says, “Listen.”
We have seen from the most recent preview that there just *might* be something under our beds, and Moffat just might have a few scares left up his sleeves.
